Nelson Electric is looking for dependable electrical helpers in our Carroll office to work on various projects in Western Iowa. While prior electrical experience isn’t necessary, we are seeking candidates who have the proven ability to be on time, demonstrate a great work ethic, and are willing to learn continuously throughout their career.

Job Duties
Working under the direction of the Foreman/Journeyman Electrician, Helper Electricians will be expected to: 
  • Assist in the installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems including the layout, rough-in, and trim of lighting, power, and low voltage systems
  • Follow all safety procedures and engage in safety training
  • Use equipment safely and return in good condition
  • Assist with materials management, including jobsite and service materials, and returns
  • Maintain jobsite and vehicle cleanliness
  • Adhere to the National Electrical Code including any local amendments

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, responding to questions quickly and completely
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly with attention to detail
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude
  • Ability to be flexible and meet changing guidelines
  • Ability to work both as a team and independently to provide a positive customer experience
Education/Licensing/Experience
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, crawl, bend or kneel for long periods of time
  • Ability to routinely lift 50 lbs overhead, and routinely lift 100 lbs to waist height
  • Ability to work at elevated heights
  • Ability to wear all PPE required (PPE supplied by the company)
  • Ability to work in all-weather temperatures/climates
